Meet The Maker
Hi! I'm Nicole, the artisan behind Hygge Handmade Designs, a pottery studio based in Medina, Minnesota. My journey in pottery started in 2018 when two friends and I took a Community Ed. wheel throwing course for fun. I experienced such joy that I quickly became obsessed and bought a wheel of my own. A few years later, I found myself outgrowing my basement workspace so my husband and I invested in renovating an old pole barn on our property which now houses my studio and I took a leap and left my career as a geriatric nurse practitioner to seize the opportunity to develop my art practice instead of being tormented with potential future "what-ifs."
Born and raised in Minnesota, I am now a mom of two very active teenagers. When I am not driving a child to a practice, watching a game or washing piles of laundry and dishes, I find moments for making pottery. I love audiobooks, coffee, four legged friends of all kinds, tending to my small vegetable garden and cooking.
I am striving to live life away from devices but recognize it's a necessary part of the gig, so I am on Instagram and Goodreads and would love to connect with you there.
